What is MGTDb Pulse?
A community-driven score system built for movies, TV shows, and video games on MGTDb.
MGTDb Pulse is the score system used across MGTDb to help users quickly understand how a title is being received. It is designed to reflect community opinion clearly, simply, and in a way that fits the MGTDb platform.
What the score means
The MGTDb Pulse score represents the overall rating a title has received from the MGTDb community. As members rate a movie, TV show, or video game, those ratings contribute to the title’s overall Pulse score.
This score is intended to give users a quick snapshot of how strongly a title is connecting with the community.
What does NR mean?
NR stands for “Not Rated.” This appears when a title has not yet received enough ratings to display a community score, or when no ratings have been submitted yet.
How rating works
As MGTDb grows, logged-in members will be able to rate titles directly on the platform. Those ratings will be used to calculate the MGTDb Pulse score shown on title pages.
Step 1:
1. Members rate a title
Users submit their score for a movie, TV show, or video game.
Step 2:
2. Ratings are collected
Each valid member rating is recorded and added to the title’s rating pool.
Step 3:
3. A Pulse score is calculated
MGTDb uses those ratings to generate an overall community score.
Step 4:
4. The score is displayed on title pages
That score then appears across the site as part of the MGTDb Pulse system.
Movies, TV shows, and video games
MGTDb Pulse is designed to work across movies, TV shows, and video games. While the core idea stays the same, each type of title may eventually include its own tailored rating criteria to better reflect how audiences experience it.
For example, games may later include factors such as gameplay, graphics, or replay value, while movies and TV shows may remain focused on audience response, storytelling, and overall impact.
Built by fans, for fans
MGTDb Pulse is part of the wider MGTDb vision: building an entertainment platform that feels clear, modern, community-focused, and genuinely made for fans.
The goal is not just to copy other sites, but to create something with its own identity, voice, and experience.
